Project Manager, External Manufacturing

SUMMARY OF ROLE:
The Project Manager position is part of the External Manufacturing organization comprised of Biologics/Pharmaceutical Operations, Quality, MSAT, Procurement, and Supply Chain. This position is a core member of the External Manufacturing Virtual Plant Team (VPT) and will oversee all stages of priority projects, working with cross-functional, cross-company, global teams. This position will support the tactical, day-to-day operational aspects of the VPT.  The ideal candidate has a project management foundation, a passion for building and improving standard work processes and tools, and experience in manufacturing, appreciated. The Project Manager is an agent for collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Project management

  • Project manager for priority projects supporting the External Manufacturing Virtual Plant Team (VPT).
    • Examples of the types of projects may include:  technical process improvements, tech transfer, quality, business process improvements, etc. 
  • Utilize, and in some cases create, standard work processes and tools for all aspects of project management, including but not limited to:
    • Planning, Execution, Monitoring, Controlling, and Closing of projects
    • Creation and management of all required project plans, i.e. communication, stakeholder, risk identification, escalation, Gantt charts, etc. 
    • Visual dashboards (project status, top risks/issues, heatmaps, etc.)
    • Meeting agendas, minutes, and tracking action items
    • Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly reporting
  • Assist with development and management of monthly reporting for VPT projects and will be the assigned project manager for a subset of those projects.
  • Support ad-hoc tasks/initiatives for cross-functional ExM Organization.

 

2. Assist with documentation management of GMP and Business documents

  • PDCA (plan, do, check, act) of current documentation practices and standard work
  • Assist with planning, monitoring, controlling, and closing of many document types (GMP and Business) in paper-based systems (change controls (CC), protocols, reports, investigations, customer requests).

 

3.    Assist with the data collection and reporting of metrics/KPIs

  • Assist with creating and/or utilizing scorecards to report on metrics/KPIs.  
  • Assist with developing and managing mitigation plans to improve performance, as needed.

 

4.    Be innovative

  • Recognize and embrace simpler, more efficient ways of working
  • Discover and implement the use of new tools and/or software for documentation tracking, metrics, data management, etc.

 

Skills and Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Scientific or Engineering field
  • 5+ years relevant project management work experience for Project Manager Position

 

Demonstrated Skills:

  • Leadership – ability to lead cross-functional teams through project lifecycle using a collaborative approach to build consensus
  • Influencing – using influencing skills and techniques to communicate with people at multiple levels within the company •    Organization – managing multiple projects concurrently and having consistent approach to communication and project updates

  • Demonstrating a responsible and accountable mindset
  • Focus on risk identification and mitigation management 
  • Emphasis on continuous improvement
  • Operating with a transparent and authentic work style
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of adjusting communication style between tactical teams, strategic teams, and executive teams

 

Appreciated Skills:

  • Project Management certification or equivalent course work
  • Experience with successful implementation and use of project management software/tools
  • Experience with data analytics and metrics reporting software/tools
  • Experience leading/working within cross-functional, cross-company, global teams
  • Experience in a regulated industry (Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, FMCG)

  • Position is fully remote 
  • Approximately 10% domestic and international travel required is required to meet the needs of the business
