Role Summary
The Associate Director, Commercial Learning & Development is accountable for the development and implementation of training programs, plans, materials and processes to support the goals and objectives of the commercial function, including new hire onboarding, sales training, and skills development and upcoming launches. They will support and assist the commercial function in the development and execution of field-based critical initiatives. Reporting to the Director, US Sales Commercial L&D, this role will partner with Marketing, Sales, and Operations to identify training and effectiveness opportunities and implement innovative solutions. Additionally, this position will play a critical role in development of field personnel and execution of numerous commercial strategic initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develops and delivers all phases of field new hire, advanced skill, and brand/promotional training for sales team members
- Responsible for the development, maintenance, and delivery of sales training materials
- Creates and delivers selling-skills training based on adult learning principles and within need-based selling model
- Collaborates with Human Resources, Commercial Leadership, Global Learning and Development colleagues to pull-through training initiatives with first line managers
- Conducts field visits with sales force to provide coaching and assess training needs
- Training, change management, communications and support for field technology solutions in conjunction with other functions
- Management and oversight of training and content budget and planning
- Daily management of vendors and consultants
- Responsible for managing the submission and approval process of all field training content through Promotional Regulatory Committee Review
- Partner with IT to ensure alignment and deployment of technology-based learning solutions
- Leverage experiences and field knowledge to assist with key sales effectiveness initiatives
- Assist with POA and NSM preparation, planning and execution
- Promotes a culture of compliance with all training
- Budgeting in alignment with business priorities
- Partner with IT and other functional teams to prioritize and align resources to achieve business goals and results
- Design, improve, and implement business processes via cross-functional teams
- Ability to work in ambiguous or new situations by demonstrating a structured approach to diagnosing the problem, analyzing alternatives, recommending and implementing best solutions
Education and Required Skills
- Bachelor Degree or relevant experience
- 7+ years in Pharma, Device or Biotech industry
- Preferred 3-5 years relevant sales experience with a proven track record
- Demonstrated ability to meet all role requirements
- Project management experience and ability to multitask
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies
- Possess excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills
- Preferred minimum 2 years management or sales training experience
- Demonstrated competence in disease states/therapeutic areas/product knowledge preferred
- Experience working with cross-functional leaders and teams to achieve common goals
- Working knowledge of a Learning Management System a plus
Travel and Location
- 30-40% travel required
- Position can be remote, if Boston based encouragement of being in the office 2-3 days a week.

Salary Range
The salary range for this role is $175,000-$207,000. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. Employees in this position are also eligible for Short-Term and Long-Term incentive programs.
