Global Serialization & Traceability Centre of Expertise manager

Within the Supply Chain department, reporting to the Technical Centres of Expertise Director, Supply Chain, the Pharmaceutical Global Serialization & Traceability Centre of Expertise Lead  plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with global regulatory requirements and industry standards related to serialization and traceability within the pharmaceutical sector. This role involves overseeing the implementation and management of serialization and traceability systems, processes, and strategies across global operations to safeguard the pharmaceutical supply chain against counterfeit products and ensure product integrity.

 

This role is pivotal in ensuring the pharmaceutical supply chain's integrity, protecting patient safety, and maintaining regulatory compliance amidst evolving global serialization requirements.

 

Main responsibilities

 

  1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for global serialization and traceability initiatives in alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  2. Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of global regulations, guidelines, and standards related to pharmaceutical serialization and traceability (e.g., FDA DSCSA, EU FMD) and ensure company-wide compliance.
  3. System Implementation & Integration: Lead the selection, implementation, integration & maintenance of serialization and traceability systems (e.g., track-and-trace software, barcode systems) across manufacturing, packaging, and distribution facilities.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, supply chain, and manufacturing to ensure seamless integration of serialization and traceability solutions.
  5. Vendor Management: Manage relationships with serialization solution providers, technology vendors, and contract manufacturers to ensure effective implementation, support, and maintenance of serialization systems.
  6. Process Optimization: Continuously assess and optimize serialization and traceability processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability while minimizing disruptions to operations.
  7. Training & Education: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on serialization and traceability requirements, procedures, and best practices.
  8. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks related to serialization and traceability, including potential supply chain disruptions, data integrity issues, and regulatory non-compliance.
  9. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of serialized data throughout the supply chain.

Profile required

 

Bachelor's degree in pharmacy, engineering, supply chain management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).

  • Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in pharmaceutical manufacturing, supply chain management, or regulatory affairs with a focus on serialization and traceability.
  • In-depth knowledge of global pharmaceutical serialization regulations and guidelines (e.g., FDA DSCSA, EU FMD) and track-and-trace technologies.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects in a pharmaceutical or healthcare environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working with serialization software vendors and track-and-trace solution providers is highly desirable.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Serialization Professional) may be advantageous.
