SUMMARY OF ROLE:

The Associate Director, Scientific Communications & Publications plays a vital role in the development of key scientific communications and publications within our US Medical department. Reporting to the Director, Scientific Communications & Publications, this individual will work closely with cross-functional medical teams to develop, manage, and implement strategic publication plans for both solid tumor and hematologic therapeutic areas. The Associate Director will guide and have oversight of publication vendors and draft budgets and will oversee the timely and efficient development and submission of manuscripts, abstracts, and meeting presentations.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

 

Publication Development & Management:

  • Collaborate with medical strategy on the development of publication plans for oncology assets
  • Lead and manage the execution of publication tactics (eg, manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations) across the US product portfolio consistent with Servier SOPs
  • Implement appropriate US publication strategy and provide ideas for generating publications to fill clinical, economic, health outcomes, quality of life and scientific knowledge gaps
  • Lead routine US publication team meetings to facilitate strategic discussions/decisions related to publication planning and execution
  • Serve as the US Publication subject matter expert for the Therapeutic Area product(s) and maintain expertise in TA/Product scientific data, industry-related information, and evolution of disease state
  • Interact with the global publications function and alliance partner(s) to ensure that compliant publication processes are followed
  • Manage publication vendor(s) in all aspects of working relationship, including budgets, and contracting

 

Scientific & Medical Communications:

  • Support the development of scientific communications strategy and planning for US oncology assets
  • Collaborate with medical strategy on the development & execution of strategic congress plans
  • Contribute to the development of scientific content for congress medical communication activities
  • Develop expertise in disease area of focus through continuous surveillance of the medical and scientific literature for relevant publications, and lead development of monthly literature updates
  • Interact with global scientific communications leads and alliance partners as needed in support of the US scientific communications strategy

 

Skills and Education:

  • Advanced degree in medical sciences (PhD or PharmD)
  • 7+ years of Pharma experience post-graduation
  • 3+ years of oncology experience
  • Proficiency in scientific literature searches, analysis, and evaluation
  • Strong project management skills, strategic thinking, and leadership poise to negotiate and facilitate alignment among various internal and external stakeholders (eg, therapeutic area experts, authors, cross-functional teams, patient groups, researchers, clinicians)
  • Possess exceptional communication skills, both oral, written and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in teams and with autonomy as necessary Strong planning and organizational skills to prioritize projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of industry regulations and guidelines governing publications and medical communications (eg, FDA, OIG, GPP3, ICJME)
  • Experience with medical content management systems (eg, Datavision, Veeva) and biomedical reference databases (eg, PubMed, Ovid Medline) is a plus
  • Experience working & managing 3rd party vendors on projects and deliverables

 

Other Relevant Information:

  • Remote-based position with travel to HQ as needed
  • Up to ~20% travel (US and international) to attend regional and international conferences/workshops

Salary Range

 

The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $185,000. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
