Maintenance Engineer

Job purpose/ mission:
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for executing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with cGMP and all relevant regulations. This role plays a key part in maintaining equipment reliability and supporting production targets in a safe and compliant manner.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and utility equipment.
- Respond to equipment failures, troubleshoot root causes, and ensure timely resolution to minimize downtime.
- Document all maintenance activities in compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Maintenance Planning & Execution:
- Support the execution of maintenance plans, schedules, and work orders.
- Coordinate with production and quality teams to schedule maintenance without affecting operations.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all maintenance tasks comply with cGMP, FDA, and internal quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records, including equipment history, maintenance logs, and calibration reports.
- Assist in preparing documentation for audits and inspections.
- Reliability & Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in root cause analysis and reliability investigations.
- Suggest and implement improvements to enhance equipment performance and reduce maintenance costs.
- Project Support:
- Support maintenance engineering projects including installations, equipment modifications, and upgrades.
- Assist in equipment commissioning, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and validation support.
- Safety & Environment:
- Adhere to all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations and best practices.
- Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Use appropriate PPE and maintain a safe work environment.
- Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with other engineers, technicians, production, and quality teams.
- Provide technical support to operators and other departments when needed.
- Training & Development:
- Stay updated with new technologies, equipment, and maintenance practices in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Participate in technical and safety training sessions.

Requirements of the job in terms of educational background, experience, trainings, certifications, skills, and qualifications:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering field.
- Experience:
2–5 years of experience in maintenance engineering, preferably in the pharmaceutical or regulated industry.
- Certifications & Training (Preferred):
- Knowledge of cGMP and pharmaceutical regulatory guidelines
- Basic understanding of validation and qualification processes
- EHS training or certification is a plus
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing and utility equipment
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals
- Strong communication and teamwork
- Willingness to work in shifts or during off-hours for urgent interventions
