General Accountant

The General Accountant is responsible for managing key accounting activities to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data. This junior-level role focuses on the precise recording of transactions, timely reconciliations, and supporting the month-end closing process. The incumbent ensures full compliance with local Egyptian regulations and Servier Group accounting policies, providing reliable financial support to the Finance Business Partnering team.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Accounts Payable: Manage the end-of-the-end supplier invoice process, including verification, timely payments, maintenance of vendor accounts, and regular reconciliations.
  • Employee Advances & Expenses: Oversee the administration of employee advances and expense claims, ensuring accurate settlements and proactive monitoring of outstanding balances.
  • General Ledger: Prepare journal entries, perform Trial Balance Reconciliations and provide essential support during month-end and year-end closing cycles.
  • Fixed Assets: Maintain the integrity of the fixed asset register, including recording additions, transfers, and disposals, and ensuring accurate monthly depreciation runs.
  • Accruals: Prepare and reconcile monthly accruals and related entries to ensure expenses are recognized in the correct period.

Compliance & Controls: Ensure all financial documentation meets Servier’s internal control standards and remains compliant with Egyptian tax laws and audit requirements.

Candidate Profile

Role Requirements:
    • Graduate of Commerce or a relevant financial field.
    • 1–2 years of professional experience in accounting (Junior level).
    • Professional accounting certification (e.g., partial IFRS Diploma) is a plus.

 
    • Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (specifically Excel).
    • Solid understanding of Egyptian Tax Laws (VAT, WHT, Corporate Tax).
    • Knowledge of standard accounting principles and practices.
