Role Summary
The VP, US Market Access will be a key member of the US commercial leadership team reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer. This role will lead the development and execution of all Market Access strategies and tactics within the US market. The successful candidate will have significant US Market Access expertise and be responsible for ensuring optimal patient access for all current and future products in Servier’s US portfolio.
The role will be accountable for leading the development and execution of strategies to support the value proposition of Servier’s products with all key market access stakeholders, to proactively anticipate future trends in the U.S. Market Access environment and to ensure Servier’s strategies are developed and in place to meet the changing needs of the evolving marketplace. The VP will lead a cross-functional team, ensuring alignment to corporate objectives while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and patient-centricity. The role will establish a best-in-class, compliant, and patient-centric organization that enhances the overall patient and provider experience
Primary Responsibilities
- Create a vision and strategic plan for the US Market Access organization in alignment with Servier’s corporate and commercial objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Market Access organization across multiple functions, including: National Accounts, Government Pricing & Contracting, Trade & Distribution, Managed Care Marketing, and Patient Services.
- Understand and stay abreast of the complex and ever-changing U.S. payer and channel landscape; assess challenges and impact on the Company’s current and future portfolio.
- Participate in key corporate governance committees and leadership forums to provide Market Access expertise and drive key decisions (i.e. pricing strategy and Business Development valuations).
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing leadership and other members of the Commercial Leadership Team to define and implement Commercial brand strategy and tactics to meet topline demand and net revenue targets
- Ensure all programs, activities and engagements adhere to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
Education and Required Skills
- The successful candidate will be required to have a BS/BA, and a Masters degree is preferred.
- 20+ years of experience with proven leadership and direction of a team responsible for all aspects of Market Access; extensive subject matter expertise and experience in U.S. Market Access, with a track record of delivering highly successful and value-added market access solutions in the oncology arena.
- Well-developed, strategic business acumen and extensive knowledge of the U.S. public and private payer environment, the impact of health care reform and payer trends, and the U.S. distribution channel environment and emerging trends.
- Thorough understanding of the pharmaceutical industry regulatory environment related to pricing, contracting, and Market Access programs.
- Expertise spanning all channels in the value chain including payer, provider and distributor as well as an understanding of how strategic choices affect overall company/product strategy and investment in both the short and long term.
- Demonstrated experience leading market access teams across all key functional areas including reimbursement, pricing/contracting, commercial account management, government policy, and government account management.
- Leads by example; an ability to attract and develop talent, build interdependent partnerships and create a culture of collaboration and teamwork that fosters open communication, constructive conflict resolution and organizational flexibility.
- Ability to operate effectively and lead teams in changing environment; create and execute business plans/innovative strategies.
- A current understanding and appreciation for the implications of trends and government reforms that will impact market access strategies.
