Sr. Director, US Head of Data Privacy

Role Summary

The Sr. Director, US Head of Data Privacy will oversee all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance, and evolution of Servier U.S. Privacy Management Program in accordance with applicable laws.  Reporting to the US Chief of Compliance & Legal, this position will also provide strategic direction to Servier Pharmaceuticals regarding existing and emerging privacy and data protection laws. This role will partner cross functionally with employees across Servier, such as Commercial, Medical, the Patient Office, corporate functions, and R&D, to successfully execute company initiatives and mitigate risk pertaining to data privacy.  In addition to role-specific responsibilities this role will be a key member of the US Legal, Ethics & Compliance Team and collaborate as an enterprise leader for the function.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee, develop, and execute privacy training and awareness initiatives
  • Monitor compliance with applicable policies, procedures and written standards
  • Receive, investigate, and resolve inquiries, complaints and requests regarding personal data processing
  • Provide periodic reports, as appropriate or requested, to leadership
  • Escalate known privacy-related risks to Leadership, as appropriate
  • Coordinate and lead privacy incident investigations
  • Maintain effective, ongoing collaboration with Legal, Ethics & Compliance, and Privacy leaders in areas including risk management, policies, training, and internal investigations
  • Drive US Privacy Program initiatives across US business and functional teams and support Global Privacy Program implementation
  • Liaise with Global Privacy colleagues and provide visibility into local, US privacy risks, emerging requirements and operational challenges
  • Play a core role in developing future US Privacy Program committees and ambassador networks

Education and Required Skills

  • Law, Master’s or other advanced degree in related field (e.g., regulatory/healthcare compliance)
  • One (1) or more Privacy Professional certifications (CIPP/US, CIPP/M, CIPP/EU, etc.)
  • At least 7 years of experience in the privacy profession, including 2-3 years advising pharmaceutical or other life sciences companies on privacy related activities
  • In-depth knowledge of global privacy laws related to the pharmaceutical industry
  • In-depth knowledge of legal, regulatory, compliance and business environment for the life sciences industry
  • Experience with building and implementing a global privacy program preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an organization with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic and critical thinking, as well as problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills- with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Ability to manage and lead external and internal resources to achieve business goals and objectives

 

Travel and Location

  • Up to 15% travel
  • Boston-area based, hybrid role with a minimum of 2-3 days in the Boston office
