As a privately held organization, Servier is uniquely positioned to advance cutting-edge science, tackle underserved therapeutic areas, and make patients the focus of every strategic decision.

Role Summary

As an R&D Asset Leader (AL), you will drive one or several strategic oncology projects within Servier’s R&D portfolio, from preclinical research through to late-stage clinical development. You will be accountable for the vision, strategy, and overall execution of the asset, ensuring its scientific, medical, societal, and economic success.

In a highly cross-functional environment, you will inspire and mobilize internal and external teams to advance and maximize the value of oncology programs. Through your leadership, you will contribute to Servier’s mission: innovating to serve patients, with scientific excellence, collaboration, and responsible commitment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Define and champion the project vision and strategy, proposing innovative development plans optimized for cost, timelines, and value creation.
  • Build and lead the global integrated R&D plan (including Life Cycle Management) in collaboration with the Asset Team and relevant functions, ensuring alignment with oncology strategy and corporate priorities.
  • Ensure operational execution of the research and development plan: driving cross-functional coordination, monitoring timelines, budgets, and quality.
  • Identify, anticipate, and mitigate risks, implement corrective actions, and secure achievement of key milestones (Go/No-Go decisions).
  • Communicate effectively with governance committees, leadership, and stakeholders to support strategic decision-making.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement, leveraging internal and external expertise, maximizing synergies across the portfolio.
  • Represent Servier externally with partners, experts, and stakeholders, and contribute actively to the asset’s scientific dissemination (publications, presentations, collaborations).

Education and Required Skills

  • Advanced scientific degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) required with 12+ years of experience
  • Strong track record in oncology drug development, from preclinical through late-stage clinical development and registration
  • Demonstrated experience in building and executing asset development strategies.
  • Proven expertise in regulatory processes (IND, CTA, full registration dossiers)
  • Broad and up-to-date understanding of the oncology clinical landscape
  • Successful leadership experience in a complex, international matrix environment
  • Ability to apply structured, data-driven decision-making frameworks in the face of uncertainty
  • Inspirational leadership aligned with Servier’s values: patient care, bold innovation, collaborative spirit, and responsible engagement
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels
  • Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and synthesis skills
  • Strategic thinker with proactive anticipation and innovation capacity
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

Travel and Location
