Role Summary

The Senior Director of US Strategic Business Insights is a key leader within the Corporate Business Office (CBO) and the US enterprise. The role can and will partner with all functions within the US including Marketing, Medical, Sales, Operations, Finance, Corporate Strategy, and IT along with various global functions with the goal of providing key insights to enable data driven executive decision making and accurate short/long forecasting. The role will report directly to the CBO and sit on the CBO leadership team and support strategic thinking and direction for the team. This role will be integral in working across collaboratively with the CBO Leadership team to ensure success of critical initiatives.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead integration and synthesis of market knowledge and customer understanding across primary research, secondary data, competitive intelligence, advanced data analysis for the US enterprise. Ensure insights are actionable, strategic and timely.
  • Enhance the function to ensure it is fit for purpose to serve the enterprise, delivers consistency in data driven insights and enables smart decision making. This includes cohesive story telling based on cross-functional integrated insights, clear documentation of assumptions, scenario planning and recommendations. 
  • Evolve and grow the function to become a one stop shop for enterprise insights to support brands and future business planning
  • Ensure the function acts cohesively at the brand or therapeutic area level and supports elevation of business performance at appropriate governance committees.
  • Partner with and support annual planning process by leading cross functional development of near term and long-term US forecasts for all on market indications along with LCM opportunities as needed
  • Continue exemplary collaboration, thought partnership and deliverables with global business market research function
  • Manage enterprise CI to inform on competition against on-market competition and future entries as well as corporate CI needs to support portfolio needs including benchmarks
  • Develop and administer enterprise dashboards for US products
  • Identify, recruit, hire, develop and retain talent on their team

 

Education and Required Skills

  • 10+ years' experience across a combination of analytics / market research / business intelligence, as well as 15+ years of total experience in market research or forecasting roles within the biopharmaceutical and/or related industry
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with a variety of orphan and/or oncology data sources, such as payer claims, distribution, claims and/or prescription data is required
  • Background in leading a function with minimum 5 years of people management experience for market research, forecasting, CI or advanced analytics
  • Ability to manage a multi-layered team with diverse skillsets
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally to drive business results in a heavily matrixed, fast-paced environment
  • Financial acumen and proven ability to manage budgets with exemplary fiscal responsibility
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High resilience and agility
  • Strategic and analytical mindset, consultant experience is a plus
  • Full project life-cycle management
  • Creativity in problem solving
  • MBA preferred, or substantial equivalent experience
  • Recent product launch a plus
