Finance Analyst Intern

Role Summary

As we expand our Financial Planning & Analysis capabilities across the Commercial Franchise, R&D, and Industry business units, we are looking for a motivated individual to help build the foundational reporting that compares actual spend to budget and forecast at the department and business unit level. This project will require advanced excel skills, understanding of finance & accounting, and will also involve using our internal ERP system, payable system, and fixed asset system.  

 

This is a great opportunity to understand how to measure performance, review data trends, and identify risks and opportunities that will then be used to develop action plans. It is a hands-on opportunity to work with cross functional groups and gain an understanding of the various areas of the business that make up a pharmaceutical operation including R&D, manufacturing, and commercial operations.  

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in financial modeling and forecasting
  • Support budget preparation and variance analysis
  • Assist in the development of presentations for management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Finance and FP&A for data gathering
  • Support to maintain reporting tools
  • Help streamline financial processes and procedures
  • Participate in ad-hoc financial projects and analyses

 

Education and Required Skills

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and enrolled in accounting, finance, or economic college level classes 
  • Experience building spreadsheets  
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and communication skills
  • Advanced excel skills required, financial system experience is a plus 
  • This project requires high levels of data integrity and accuracy.  There will be support for this individual, but they must also be self-starters where they are comfortable following up with respective cost center owners to obtain and validate information.

 

Travel and Location

  • No travel required
  • Greater Boston area is preferred with a hybrid work style at the manager’s discretion. Remote work will be considered. Infrequent travel to the Boston Seaport office may be required for meetings and various events.

The pay range for this role is $24-$34/hr. An intern’s pay position within the range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future.
