Role Summary
The Director, US Meetings & Congresses is a senior strategic and operational leader within the US Corporate Strategy, Development & Operations (CSDO) organization, reporting to the Senior Director, US Inline & Business Operations. This role is accountable for the operational planning, governance, and execution excellence of Servier’s US meetings and congress activities. The Director ensures that all events are delivered with consistency, high quality, and compliance, enabling Commercial and Medical teams to effectively execute their strategic objectives.
The Director will primarily collaborate with US leadership team members, Sales, Marketing, Medical, Learning and Development teams, and home office stakeholders. The successful candidate will have significant meetings, events, and congress operations planning expertise and be responsible for orchestrating high quality and impactful event outcomes.
Primary Responsibilities
Operational Strategy & Governance
- Establish and lead a scalable operating model for U.S. meetings, events, and congress execution, aligned to enterprise standards and compliance requirements
- Define and implement policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks to ensure consistency, high quality, and desired impact
- Act as the primary point of accountability for operational planning integrity, risk mitigation, and execution readiness
Meetings Execution Leadership
- Oversee end-to-end planning and execution of key meetings and events, including national sales meetings, leadership meetings, award trips, product launch events, and engagement focused employee events
- Ensure all meetings are delivered against defined objectives, timelines, budgets, and quality standards
- Drive standardized planning processes, tools, and templates to improve efficiency and repeatability
Congress Operations Planning & Delivery
- Lead integrated operational planning for national and global US based congresses, ensuring alignment with strategic direction set by Medical and Commercial teams
- Develop and manage comprehensive congress operational plans, including timelines, milestones, dependencies, and resource allocation
- Oversee all logistics, including booth operations, production, material fulfillment, staffing coordination, and onsite execution
- Coordinate cross-functional inputs (e.g., brand, medical, compliance, legal, procurement) into a unified execution plan
- Proactively identify operational risks and ensure mitigation plans are in place
- Ensure all congress-related activities adhere to HCP engagement, transparency reporting, and regulatory compliance requirements
Vendor & Agency Management
- Lead selection, onboarding, and performance management of external agencies and meeting management partners
- Establish clear scopes of work, service-level agreements, and performance metrics
- Drive accountability for delivery excellence, innovation, and cost efficiency across vendors
Financial Stewardship
- Own and manage meetings and congress operational budgets
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and reconciliation processes
- Ensure disciplined cost management while maximizing operational value and experience quality
Cross-Functional Integration
- Partner closely with US Leadership, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Compliance, Legal, and Procurement to ensure aligned execution
- Clearly delineate roles and responsibilities between strategy owners and execution teams, ensuring effective collaboration
- Lead cross-functional planning forums and execution reviews
Operational Excellence & Innovation
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning coordination, cost optimization, and enhanced attendee experience
- Introduce innovative execution approaches, including hybrid/virtual capabilities and digital engagement tools
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing operations team and extended vendor partner network
- Foster a culture of accountability, operational rigor, and continuous improvement
- Develop organizational capabilities in meeting and congress operations planning through coaching and best practice sharing
Performance Measurement & Insights
- Define and track operational KPIs (e.g., execution quality, budget adherence, timelines, impact & satisfaction metrics)
- Lead structured post-event reviews focused on operational performance and lessons learned
- Deliver insights and recommendations to improve future execution and resource allocation
Job Description
Candidate Profile
Education and Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., CMP) preferred, or equivalent experience preferred
- 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech meetings, congress operations, or commercial operations
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-event operational portfolios in a highly regulated environment
- Deep expertise in pharmaceutical meetings and congress operations planning and execution
- Effective people leadership and coaching with the ability to develop and inspire high-performing teams
- Strong knowledge of HCP compliance, transparency reporting, and regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to translate cross-functional strategic inputs into detailed, executable operational plans
- Strong vendor and budget management capabilities with a focus on efficiency and value delivery
- Excellent cross-functional leadership and stakeholder alignment skills
- Ability to lead through complexity, manage competing priorities, and ensure flawless execution
Travel and Location
- Boston based hybrid role, reporting to the Seaport office at least 3 days per week
- Travel estimated at 30% - 40%

Salary Range
The salary range for this role is $188-$227k. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. Employees in this position are also eligible for Short-Term and Long-Term incentive programs.
