Role Summary
Servier is seeking to hire a lab-based Associate Scientist to help drive novel target identification and validation and contribute to the progression of early research projects within our cancer biology team. The candidate will work closely with project leaders and within multidisciplinary teams to explore new cancer targets, elucidate drugging strategies by interrogating mechanisms of action, and discover and optimize novel therapeutics that will help define our future oncology portfolio.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of cell-based assays, including but not limited to western blot, qPCR, ELISAs, reporter assays, growth / phenotypic assays, flow cytometry, co-culture assays, CRISPR- and/or RNAi-mediated functional genomics, etc.
- Execute or support genetic or pharmacological studies to identify, validate, and advance novel targets.
- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot medium- and high-throughput cell-based assays to support project screening and SAR.
- Effectively and efficiently document (ELN), analyze, interpret, and communicate experimental results to relevant, multidisciplinary project teams.
- Collaborate closely with scientists in other functional areas to identify, plan, and execute key experiments to drive key program decisions.
- May provide technical and/or cancer biology expertise to relevant project teams.
Education and Required Skills
- Experienced cancer biologist with relevant industry/academic experience (years post-degree: BS 6+, MS 3+).
- Previous drug discovery experience will be favourably considered.
- Skilled in mammalian cell culture with extensive hands-on experience with cell line engineering and an array of cellular and molecular biology techniques.
- Design and experimental expertise with CRISPR-based technologies is a plus.
- Ability to work independently to design and execute well-controlled, high-quality scientific experiments, interpret and summarize the results, and effectively communicate those results to the team.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to excel in a collaborative, cross-functional, team environment.
- Able to quickly adapt, execute, and thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving biotech environment.
Travel and Location
- This is a lab-based role, so being on-site in Boston Seaport full-time is required.
- Option to attend one relevant scientific congress per year.
