Role Summary
As part of Servier’s dynamic and global External Innovation team, the Associate Director, External Innovation, North America will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing innovative R&D partnerships across North America. The position is within the Global R&D External Innovation team and will report to the Head of External Innovation, North America. This is an exciting role involving active scouting for innovative technologies across the ecosystem to support the company’s mission to address the highest medical needs through cutting-edge research and collaboration. In this role, you will bring your collaborative spirit to work across the global organization with key stakeholders to champion new ideas to generate both scientific and business value for the portfolio.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the scientific ecosystem in North America Oncology and Neurology, following innovation roadmaps and strategic priorities.
- Identify and engage key partners, including academic institutes, technology transfer offices, accelerators, incubators, trade organizations, venture capital funds, and biotech companies.
- Build and maintain a network of potential partners to identify early-stage in-licensing and research collaboration opportunities, strengthening Servier’s science and product portfolio.
- Support the evaluation of partnering opportunities with TA Search and Evaluation Directors, R&D stakeholders, and Business Development (BD) colleagues while liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead or participate in the organization of external innovation initiatives (e.g., scientific events, learning expeditions, Partnering Days, innovation forums).
- Summarize and communicate the macro-trends, competitive landscapes, gaps, and opportunities for Oncology, Neurology and Technology platforms through regular updates to global internal stakeholders.
- Represent Servier at key scientific and industry forums, increasing the company’s visibility and positioning it as a partner of choice for external innovation.
- Ensure effective crosstalk and collaboration between global and regional S&E and BD teams to maintain updated scouting priorities and maximize partnership opportunities.
- Utilize internal and external opportunity management tools to track and support the operations of the S&E group.
Education and Required Skills
- Master’s degree required with 6+ years of experience within Neurology (preferred) or Oncology drug development, technology transfer or a partnering-based role.
- Advanced degree (MD or PhD) preferred.
- Experience in building relationships and partnerships with ecosystem members such as biotech companies and academics, particularly in the West Coast ecosystem of North America.
- Experience in working in a highly cross-functional and international setup.
- Motivated, results-driven self-starter with the ability to flex in response to changing demands of a fast-paced work environment, working independently as well as collaboratively across business functions.
- Strong integrity, work ethic and commitment.
- Organized, detailed-oriented personality with the ability to multi-task.
- Strong passion towards science, being engaged in tracking and analyzing the latest developments, particularly in the field of Neurology for life sciences R&D.
- Strong data-searching and analytical skills. Demonstrated proficiency to synthesize large amount of data and structure findings into an actionable recommendation to senior management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Frequent regional travel required
- Hybrid (2-3 days per week) in our Boston, MA office

Salary Range
The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $215,000. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. Employees in this position are also eligible for Short-Term and Long-Term incentive programs.
