Role Summary

 

We are looking for a dynamic Strategic Finance and FP&A leader to join our Finance team. This role will contribute to our company’s mission by enabling key decision making with financial insights.  You will be exposed to many moving parts of our business and will be a critical thought partner, working across the organization to drive value. You will leverage data, build models, communicate insights, and execute best practices.  This role will collaborate and partner with our business leaders and global functions to support strategic and financial decision making focused on key investments, operational improvements, and new business opportunities.

 

The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced environment.  This role requires strong leadership, project management, and consultative capabilities for partners at various levels across the organization.


 

This role will be headquartered in Boston (hybrid in our office 3 days a week) and report to our VP of Finance.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  1.  Business Performance: Reporting, Data Analysis & Modelling
  • Provide decision support through modeling and analysis (e.g., operational business modelling).
  • Provide detailed feedback, insight, and recommendations to the business on its financial performance, focusing on key drivers including trends, and analytical needs.
  • Leads the annual budget, quarterly forecasting, and latest estimate processes for all departments, as well as financial process of the Strategic Plan.
  • Monitors, analyzes and reports on actual performance against budget, prior year and latest forecast, investigates variances, and proactively identifies risks and opportunities and appropriate action plans/solutions. 
  • Leads the coordination, compilation, and verification of analytic interpretation of financial reports and analyses, including product and project profitability.
  • Partner with other functions to enhance overall governance and funding process for key corporate initiatives.
  • Provides analyses and strategic direction to ensure Servier’s financial commitments are met - internally and externally.
  • With cross-functional collaboration, prepare financial reporting presentations to ensure that the organization’s narrative of our financial performance and key business drivers is clearly communicated in context of declared strategic objectives
  • Develop in-depth understanding of key business drivers and establish a robust weekly and monthly   KPI reporting to track and provide appropriate visibility
  • Initiates and facilitates investigation of trends and variances (e.g., business, customer, gross-to-net, supplier, cost, working capital).
  • Develops profitability analysis as it relates to gross to net, price/volume & product contribution analysis, measures ROI for key business initiatives.
  • Design, automate, and optimize processes, technology, and systems to scale; spread accountability and financial discipline throughout the organization
  • Prepares and presents project analyses through analytical and financial modelling to a diverse group of internal stakeholders; able to clearly justify analytical outcomes (translate complex topics and articulate with desired effect) to build (executive) management confidence with business decisions and provides appropriate scenario & sensitivity modelling and related recommendations.
  • Supports intercompany transactions, including allocations and related process flows and documentation
  • Supports implementation of future ERP and other reporting tools
  • Oversee impairment testing

  1. Business development / inorganic growth initiatives
  • Assists Business Development and Leaders in assessing partnerships, acquisitions, and other strategic collaborations. Identifies impact to current and future business, drives financial diligence, helps quantify the opportunity, models value drivers and can effectively support Post-Merger Integration.
  • Performs special projects/studies as directed; completes ad hoc analysis as needed related to various business drivers and ensures proper allocations/allocation methodologies are in place.

 

 

Education and Required Skills

 

  • BS degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics or equivalent experience and 10+ years of finance or consulting work experience
  • General knowledge of accounting principles, both US GAAP and IFRS
  • Pharma or biotech experience with an understanding of gross-to-net drivers. Experience in a multinational or global operating business.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced knowledge of Excel (financial modelling and analysis techniques)
  • Proficient with Adaptive Insights and NetSuite is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail with an aptitude to learn and think on your feet
  • Must demonstrate the ability to provide customer-oriented services, proficiency, and expertise in simplifying and explaining finance related policies, procedures, and complex financial issues to non-finance professionals
  • Meet objectives through collaborative working style, transparent communication and care in your work and interactions with colleagues
  • Change management skills and self-awareness to take varying approaches with a dynamic set of stakeholders.
